Indeed, Allah showers His blessings upon the Prophet, and His angels pray for him.
O believers, invoke Allah's blessings upon him, and salute him with worthy greetings of peace.
Recognition, love, following and respect.
These are four essential elements that should shape every Muslim’s relationship with our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
Above all, the highest virtue is honoring the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
For recognizing, loving, and revering him, is the key to attaining Allah’s pleasure.
Disrespect towards him often arises from misunderstanding the balance between his infallibility and humanity, peace be upon him.
Sadly, such disrespect sows doubt and skepticism in hearts.
This is precisely what Sidi Al-Jazuli sought refuge from in Dalail al-Khayrat:
“As You inspired me and enabled me to compile this book, making the path and means easy for me,
You removed from my heart any doubt or hesitation concerning this noble Prophet.
You made my love for him surpass my love for all relatives and dear ones.
I ask You, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah,
to grant me and all who love and follow him his intercession and companionship on the Day of Judgment.”
Dalil Al-Khayrāt (The Guide to Goodness)
Episode 20
The Infallibility of the Prophet (PBUH)
To grasp the Prophet’s infallibility, we must delve deeper into the essence of his humanity, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
Our Master Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As was approached by Quraysh, who said:
“O Abdullah, you write down everything the Prophet (peace be upon him) says, while he is only human.”
“He speaks in moments of anger and satisfaction.”
“Choose the right moments.”
Abdullah took this concern to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Consider their understanding — they were newly introduced to faith.
Their perception of the Prophet’s humanity was limited.
Here, we must emphasize the distinction
between their understanding of his humanity and ours today —
and that of the disbelievers.
The disbelievers said to him: “You are nothing but a human like us.”
But what sets our understanding apart from theirs?
In this situation, the Prophet (peace be upon him) sought
to teach Abdullah that his humanity is of a unique nature.
Abdullah said: “O Messenger of Allah, I used to write down what you said, but Quraysh stopped me.”
“They told me: ‘Do you write everything the Prophet (peace be upon him) says, whether in anger or in satisfaction?’”
“‘He is just a human who speaks in moments of anger and satisfaction.’”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “O Abdullah, write! For by Allah, I do not speak except the truth.”
“Write at any time.”
Abdullah continued writing and disregarded the words of Quraysh.
Objections to certain actions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
have emerged due to an ideology that has spread over the past 200 years,
emphasizing that the Prophet was merely an ordinary human.
By repeatedly asserting, “He is just an ordinary human,”
they began to judge the Prophet’s actions by the standards of ordinary humanity.
Consequently, they deemed some of his actions unacceptable.
Later, Orientalists adopted this approach,
selectively highlighting incidents they found perplexing, as they read the Prophet’s biography with skeptical hearts.
Their aim was to cast doubts on the Prophet regarding certain matters.
It is therefore essential to clarify that the Prophet is not an ordinary human.
He is a perfect human, divinely guided,
who does not act out of personal whims.
The Prophet’s will is entirely aligned with the will of Allah.
He is divinely protected from error or misguided desires.
This understanding dispels all misconceptions.
The Prophet is a human who receives revelation and acts solely according to Allah’s command.
Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah affirm,
as taught at Al-Azhar,
that the Prophet is infallible.
When speaking about our beloved master, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him),
he is the greatest of all who are infallible.
His infallibility applies both before and after his prophethood.
It is continuous and everlasting,
beginning from the moment of his creation, at birth itself.
The Messenger (peace be upon him) is sustained by the light of Allah.
Can anyone encompass the light of Allah?
No one can encompass the light of Allah.
For his sustenance flows directly from our Lord, the Almighty.
O Allah, bestow Your blessings, peace, and grace upon our master Muhammad, Your Prophet and Messenger,
upon our master Ibrahim, Your intimate friend and chosen one, upon our master Musa, whom You spoke to and saved,
upon our master Isa, Your spirit and word,
and upon all Your angels, messengers, prophets, and the elect among Your creation.
He is a human, but one connected to the higher, divine realm.
If this is the case, do not measure him by the laws of physical science.
Our Master, the Prophet (peace be upon him), operates within the framework of physical laws in his humanity.
Yet, in his connection to the higher realm,
he transcends these laws.
Thus, he would sometimes go without food for two or three days.
When asked, “O Messenger of Allah, you haven’t eaten for three days,”
he replied, “I spend the night with my Lord, and He feeds me and gives me drink.”
Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. That is why he said to them: “I am not like you.”
Physically, he appears as a human like us.
Yet in the composition and preparation of his body, this Prophet is unlike us.
O Allah, grant us life according to his Sunnah,
and take us in death upon his way.
Make us among those who receive his intercession,
and gather us in his company.
Grant us to drink from his pond,
and from his blessed cup,
without disgrace or regret.
Without disbelief, alteration,
distortion, deception, or being deceived.
Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.
Therefore, we must understand these sayings within their broader context.
Each saying should be interpreted in light of other sayings, and each verse in light of other verses.
The problem arises when we focus on a specific part of a verse.
For example, the verse: “Say, ‘I am only a human like you.’”
If we stop here and take only this part,
then, what differentiates you from the disbelievers of Quraysh, who said to the messengers, “You are only humans like us”?
There is no difference.
If we stop here, there is no distinction.
But continue reading…
“Say, ‘I am only a human like you, to whom revelation is sent.’”
So, the Prophet (peace be upon him) is divinely supported by revelation.
Those with mere sight see only the outward appearance—
a human like us, with eyes, a nose, and breath.
But those with insight perceive the essence within.
They witness his beauty and the divine secret flowing through him.
That is why the people of insight never compare him to anyone else.
Only those with mere sight focus on his physical form.
They say, “He was a Prophet who died and was buried,” viewing him as just a man.
But those with insight understand, “The prophets are alive in their graves.”
Did I see him alive?
No, but I believe based on the information conveyed by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
That is why Allah, the Almighty, said to His Messenger (peace be upon him):
“And you see them looking at you, but they do not see.”
They see only his human nature,
but they fail to perceive the divine mission entrusted to him—his uniqueness.
That he is Allah’s representative, His Messenger, the most perfect,
The First, the Last, the Opener, the Seal,
The Master of the Prophets, the bearer of the Banner of Praise, the intercessor,
The one who holds the Key to Paradise. Yet, they fail to see all this because they focus only on his humanity.
They saw him, sat with him, ate with him, and some even slept in his house.
Yet, despite looking at him, they did not truly perceive him.
Such people have fallen into doubt and confusion.
They disbelieved—may Allah protect us.
O Allah, illuminate my heart with knowledge.
Guide my body in obedience to You.
Protect my heart from trials, and occupy my mind with reflection.
Shield me from the evil whispers of the devil.
Grant me refuge in You, O Most Merciful.
At the beginning of Surah Ibrahim,
their messengers said, “Is there any doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth?
He calls you to forgive your sins and delay you until a specified time.”
They replied, “You are but humans like us.”
Their issue was not with the concept of divinity, but rather with the messengers themselves, saying, “You are just like us.”
“You have no superiority over us.”
However, the messengers responded,
“We are but humans like you, but Allah bestows His favor upon whom He wills from His servants.”
He is indeed human — but he is also a messenger.
He is human — but he is the best of creation.
May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him.
Let us not stop at his humanity and neglect what transcends it —
the revelation bestowed upon him, and the divine light present in this noble Prophet.
To simply say, “He is a human like us,”
without acknowledging his distinction, is a flaw and a sickness in the soul.
We say to those who think this way: “Correct your flaw, cure your sickness, and heal your heart.”
For this sickness stems from your relationship with your beloved and your Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad,
a prayer that delivers us from all calamities and afflictions,
fulfills all our needs,
purifies us from all sins,
raises us to the highest ranks near You,
and grants us the ultimate goals
of all goodness in this life and the Hereafter.
The first safeguard against doubt or suspicion regarding the essence of our master Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family,
is to believe firmly in his perfection, may peace and blessings be upon him.
All the noble traits and virtues we find within ourselves—in him, they are perfected.
He is the model—the origin of all goodness.
“Indeed, there has come to you a Messenger from amongst yourselves...”
When we search within our hearts, we find the light of the Prophet directly shining within us.
For he is the human in whom
the divine perfections are most manifest.
The beauty of God's attributes is reflected in him.
Therefore, we say:
O Allah, send blessings upon the rider of the Buraq.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one who ascended through the seven heavens.
O Allah, send blessings upon the intercessor of all creation.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one in whose hand food was blessed.
Increasing our blessings upon him purifies our hearts and dispels any doubt about his perfection, peace be upon him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon the family of our master Muhammad—
a perpetual, accepted prayer through which we fulfill his immense right upon us.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) embodied perfection in all his actions—whether in sleep or wakefulness, eating or drinking.
Even in his most natural matters, such as fulfilling his needs and interactions with his wives,
he was perfect in every state.
For this reason,
scholars and jurists meticulously documented every detail of the Prophet’s life, down to his daily habits—
matters that might otherwise be overlooked.
You might live with your father for thirty or forty years,
yet not know how he sleeps.
But we know these intimate details about the Prophet—
perfection in every situation.
If you seek perfection in eating and drinking, observe how the Prophet ate and drank.
If you seek perfection in walking,
interacting with the young, the elderly, the weak, the sick,
friends or foes—
look to the Prophet (peace be upon him)
He lived for sixty-three years, surrounded by enemies,
all eagerly waiting for him to make a single mistake—
a mistake they would spread in poetry for all Arabs to memorize.
Yet they found none.
Those who lived with him—friend or foe—could not find fault in him.
What imperfection could be found in our Prophet (peace be upon him)?
Point out any flaw, shortcoming, or defect—
in the one whom the Lord of the heavens and the earth called to His presence and honored with His vision.
You speak of holiness—he is the one who sanctifies holiness.
He sanctified Mecca and Medina, as Allah says:
“I swear by this city [Mecca], while you are lawful in this city.”
The city is sacred, but its greatest honor is your presence within it.
How could I swear by the sanctity of Mecca without honoring the one who resides in it?
Your worth surpasses every noble one,
and your right is to be venerated by all who possess honor.
You are the one whom Allah elevated above all.
Your value is beyond measure, and your right upon us is immense.
Time may fade, but words about the Beloved of the Most Merciful, peace be upon him, remain eternal.
Our beloved master Ali al-Habashi once said:
I sought to describe the Beloved,
with some of what the heart understood from the praise in the Qur'an.
Yet, I found my words insufficient to convey even a fraction
of the countless divine favors bestowed upon him.
How can my speech rise to his station,
when every tongue grows weary in describing him?
Our Sheikh, Sheikh Nouh al-Quda, used to say:
No matter how lofty the praises of those who praise him,
they can never reach the words of Allah: Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you are only pledging allegiance to Allah.
Nor can they reach His words: And you did not throw when you threw, but Allah threw.
Nor can they attain: And Allah and His Messenger have more right that they should please Him.
Why is that?
Because our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, says in a sacred hadith narrated by Imam al-Bukhari:
"My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary acts of worship until I love him. When I love him,
I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks."
This refers to your faculties.
Your hearing belongs to Allah, your sight belongs to Allah, your hands belong to Allah, and so on.
To Allah belongs the highest example.
If this applies to a righteous servant, then how much greater is it for the most righteous of all—
our Prophet, peace be upon him?
Understanding the humanity of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,
helps us grasp the supplication of my master Al-Jazuli in Dala’il al-Khayrat
and protects us from doubts and suspicions regarding the Messenger, peace be upon him.
And His word is the truth:
"And Allah created you and what you do." (Quran 37:96)
Nothing—whether a word, an action, a movement, or stillness—
emanates from His servants except that He has already encompassed it in His knowledge and decreed how it shall be.
As You inspired me and enabled me to compile this book, making the path and means easy for me,
You removed from my heart any doubt or hesitation concerning this noble Prophet.
You made my love for him surpass my love for all relatives and dear ones.
I ask You, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah,
to grant me and all who love and follow him his intercession and companionship on the Day of Judgment.”
First, he expresses gratitude to Allah, the Almighty,
for making him part of the nation of the Prophet, peace be upon him,
and for removing doubt and suspicion
about his being a Prophet, the Seal of the Prophets and Messengers.
He also thanks Allah for the virtues granted to him,
and for making sending blessings upon the Prophet one of the greatest acts of devotion.
All these matters could become a source of doubt.
Therefore,
he praises Allah for not making him among those who waver.
Doubt and suspicion are closely intertwined.
Those who doubt waver, just as they waver about the Prophet—
whether he is a means of intercession or not, whether he could make mistakes or was infallible.
Some claim he is fallible, while others deny his intercession altogether.
There are even those who dislike sending blessings upon him, despite it being commanded in the Qur’an.
All of these are doubts, illusions, and suspicions.
If such thoughts do not stem from one's self, they may indicate hypocrisy and enmity.
If such thoughts do not stem from one's self, they may indicate hypocrisy and enmity.
If not expressed outwardly, they may linger inwardly, arising from ignorance or heeding the words of the ignorant.
Our teacher, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say: "Do not allow a wayward heart to enter your ears."
Some hear such words, letting them take root in their hearts,
leading them to doubt the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
They claim such praise is excessive or prohibited, or even equate it to associating partners with Allah.
Hence, he praises Allah for saving him from such doubts.
He has been delivered from these illusions that plague many hearts.
Among people are the true believers, the doubters, the disbelievers, and the hypocrites.
Our path to reaching Allah is through our guide, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The closer you are to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the closer you are to Allah.
Some love the Prophet as if they see him, with unwavering certainty.
Others love him as though he stands before their very eyes.
Some love him as if they live alongside him.
Or as if the Prophet (PBUH) dwells within them.
Such levels of love remove all doubt and hesitation.
Remove doubt from what?
From the words of Allah, the Exalted:
Ibrahim said:
"My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." He said, "Do you not believe?" He said, "Yes, but I wish to have certainty in my heart."
He sought reassurance so that no doubt could arise.
Not doubt, nor suspicion.
Rather, he desired a certainty where no question would ever surface in his heart or mind about Allah.
Similarly, in Dalā’il al-Khayrāt,
no question arises that could diminish our love for the Prophet (PBUH).
Insha’Allah, may Allah grant us the honor of meeting in the Green Dome. Ameen, O Lord.
And we shall meet in the Green Dome. Ameen, O Lord.
And we shall drift in the Green Dome. Ameen, O Lord.
And we shall sing in the Green Dome. Ameen, O Lord.
And we shall weep in the Green Dome. Ameen, O Lord.
Ah, O Prophet.
Love.
Love.
Love, love.
Love.
O Allah, send peace and blessings upon him.
O Allah, we have believed in him (PBUH) without seeing him.
Grant us the joy of seeing him in both worlds, O Allah.
Steady our hearts upon loving him.
Guide us to follow his Sunnah.
Cause us to die in his faith.
Resurrect us among his saved group.
And among the successful ones.
Benefit us with the love for him that fills our hearts (PBUH).
On the Day when neither wealth, nor children, nor deeds will avail.
Grant us to drink from his purest pond and from the best cup by his hand.
Make it easy for us to visit Your Sacred House and the sanctuary of Your Messenger (PBUH).
A grain of doubt about the Prophet is disbelief.
This is no trivial matter.
The Prophet (PBUH) was fully aware of this reality.
We know the story of our mother, Safiyyah,
when she visited him during his seclusion in Ramadan at night.
Afterward, he accompanied her out. The mosque was completely dark, with no light.
Imagine the scene — the Prophet walking with a woman in the darkness.
Two men from the Ansar passed by and saw him.
They tried to walk away quickly, pretending they had not seen him.
The Prophet immediately perceived their thoughts.
He said, “Wait, she is Safiyyah.”
They said, “Do you doubt us, O Messenger of Allah?”
He replied, “Indeed, Satan flows through the son of Adam like blood.”
A fleeting thought could cross your mind.
One day, you might recall seeing the Prophet walking with a woman at night.
Even if you wouldn’t question it,
the Prophet sought to protect his nation from any such thoughts.
When I read the Prophet’s biography,
or when I form a personal connection
with the Prophet (PBUH),
a certain level of love naturally develops.
Yet, the first thing that may arise in the mind is doubt.
While the mind raises questions, the heart remains filled with love for the Prophet.
The heart rejects the doubt, while the mind wonders.
A loving person seeks answers—not out of doubt in the Prophet (PBUH),
but from a desire to understand and strengthen their faith.
They approach the question not with suspicion, but with submission—
knowing the Prophet is infallible and protected from sin.
If you approach such matters through the lens of love,
your faith will remain unwavering. You will question your knowledge,
reflect, and engage in research—seeking answers with sincerity.
The early generations—the companions, their followers, and the righteous predecessors—
never experienced such doubts that trouble us today.
The only explanation for this phenomenon, is the weakening of our relationship with the Messenger (PBUH).
Confusion, illusions, and dark thoughts creep into minds
I am almost certain that it is due to the negligence in sending blessings upon the Prophet (PBUH)
When one sends blessings upon the Prophet (PBUH),
divine mercy is set into motion. The hand of Muhammadan care extends,
lifting the believer from the depths of doubt.
Who among the creation of Allah is more merciful to Allah's creation than the Master of Existence, peace and blessings be upon him?
No Muslim who sincerely sends blessings upon the Prophet(PBUH), For any reason, except that the hand of Muhammadan care extends to them
اللهم أحينا على سنته وتوفنا على ملته
O Allah, grant us life upon his Sunnah, and cause us to die upon his faith.
وأجعلنا من أهل شفاعته
Make us among those who receive his intercession,
واحشرنا في زمرته
and gather us in his company.
وأوردنا حوضه
Let us drink from his basin,
وأسقنا بكأسه
from his blessed cup—
غير خزايا ولا نامين ولا شاكين
without disgrace, without thirst, and without complaint.
ولا مبادلين ولا مغيرين
Without change, without deviation,
ولا فاتنين ولا مفتونين
without division, and without misguidance.
آمين يارب العالمين
Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.
Purifying the mind and heart from doubts about our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family,
opens the door to divine success granted by Allah, the Almighty.
This is evident in the case of non-Muslims, whose sincere knowledge of our Master, peace be upon him, often guides them to embrace Islam.
This is also the case for the non-Muslim whose natural disposition is not intact.
When he hears of the perfections of the Messenger of Allah or learns of his noble qualities,
or if a glimpse of the light of the Messenger of Allah's beauty appears to him,
divine care draws him nearer to the Prophetic presence — the Muhammadan presence.
He becomes a believer, a Muslim, a lover, and one who ascends in spiritual ranks,
blessed with eternal happiness and everlasting joy.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad, Your servant, Your Prophet, and Your Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet,
and upon his family and companions, and grant them peace,
in accordance with the greatness of Your essence, at all times and in every moment.
There are righteous scholars whom Allah has guided to these truths,
such that they need no proof, for their sincere love suffices as evidence.
Yet Allah has granted them proof nonetheless,
affirming the Prophet’s complete infallibility before and after his Prophethood.
No error touches any of his worldly or religious actions — all are divinely inspired.
All his relationships with his wives
are guided directly by God,
not based on personal desire, reasoned judgment, or any worldly inclination.
All his judicial rulings were not based on personal interpretation but were divine decrees revealed by God.
Not a single mistake ever occurred in the life of our Prophet — not before his Prophethood, nor after.
What pains me most is hearing people belittle the Prophet,
for when one knows the Prophet’s perfection and hears others diminish him,
it feels as if the heart aches — as if the body itself falls ill.
Just as Prophet Ibrahim said:
"Indeed, I am sick" [Quran 37:89]
upon witnessing his people worship idols.
Those who know the truth and see others reveling in falsehood suffer not only in their souls but in their very bodies.
Love for the Prophet must encompass him in his entirety,
for he is the embodiment of perfection, beauty, and majesty.
No doubt, suspicion, or deficiency can touch any aspect of him.
One cannot choose to love him from one side while neglecting another.
Rather, one must embrace him from every angle,
for the deeper one delves into his reality, the more radiant his perfection appears.
Thus, it is said: "And He removed doubt and suspicion from my heart."
I call upon You, O Allah
Grant me, and all who love and follow him, his intercession and companionship on the Day of Judgment—
without reckoning, punishment, blame, or reproach.
When a person truly knows our Master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), loves him, and follows him with the reverence he deserves,
their mind is illuminated with the light of Allah, the Most Glorious.
He requires no proof of his perfection (peace and blessings be upon him).
However, not everyone reaches this certainty with ease.
The devil may distract them with Quranic verses or sayings whose outward meanings appear to suggest otherwise,
obscuring the perfect humanity of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
In such cases, they begin searching for evidence and seeking answers to dispel these doubts.
Addressing these misconceptions will be the topic of our next episode, by the will of Allah.
We invoked Salawat on the Prophet (peace be upon him) more than 118 times in this episode.
