Dalil Al-Khayrāt (The Guide to Goodness) Episode 14
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): A Timeless Love
No one in the universe is more worthy of love than the Prophet (PBUH).
This statement reflects a truth that some may overlook.
And that is because there is no one who loved the Prophet, PBUH, and his family
more than Allah, Glorified and Exalted.
Allah, Glorified and Exalted,
loved the Messenger of Allah, PBUH.
He loved him with a love unparalleled and unmatched for all eternity.
Who can utter a single word
that encompasses all meanings as Allah, Glorified and Exalted, said:
"And be patient for the judgment of your Lord, for indeed, you are under Our watchful eyes." Peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
When we recall the words of our master Al-Jazuli: "O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad,"
in proportion to Your love for him and the love You hold for him within Yourself,
immediately a verse comes to mind:
Allah's words: "For indeed, you are under Our watchful eyes."
Some of the righteous, when visiting the Master of Messengers, PBUH,
would recall this verse and say:
"I stand where the eyes of Allah are upon me."
And then they would say, "Indeed, you are in Our care, for indeed, you are under Our watchful eyes."
What a connection, what a love—
a love so immense that it inspired such divine expressions in the Quran.
Even those who loved deeply would say:
"For indeed, you are under Our watchful eyes."
Yet despite the immense love conveyed in these words,
Allah did not describe it using any human term for love—
neither love, nor passion, nor adoration, nor fondness, nor any other word in the Quran.
Scholars have said this is because such terms are inadequate
to express the reality of this divine relationship.
These are mere labels, unable to capture its full essence.
Thus, Allah, Glorified and Exalted, bestowed His love upon His chosen beloved.
He granted him the highest station of love
and said to him: "If I took Ibrahim as a close friend, then I have taken you as My beloved."
"And I have not created any being more noble to Me than you."
"And were it not for you, I would not have created the world and its inhabitants, except to manifest your honor and rank with Me."
"And were it not for you, I would not have created the universe."
This is stated in the sacred hadith.
The greatest of all creation in the sight of Allah is the Messenger of Allah.
The Prophet of Allah,
the Beloved of Allah,
the Chosen of Allah,
the Intimate of Allah,
the Close Companion of Allah,
the Saint of Allah,
the Trustworthy One of Allah,
the One chosen by Allah from among His creation,
the Elite of Allah from all of humanity,
and the Purest of Allah’s Prophets.
These words make some people uncomfortable,
claiming they are exaggerations and exceed the limits,
which, they argue, could lead to what is referred to as polytheism.
Some say, "You exaggerate
in love."
"You overpraise the status of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,
glorifying him to the extent that you have crossed the limit."
Exaggeration means departing from truth and correctness.
But when have we ever crossed the bounds of truth and correctness
if our praise, in its entirety, does not even reach
what the scholars have said?
No matter how much poets compete in praising him, they can never surpass the reality of his stature,
for his hand contains the vastness of the sea itself.
How can one truly praise him, peace and blessings be upon him? I find all praise for the Prophet to be insufficient,
even if one were to praise him excessively and frequently.
Allah Himself has praised him in a manner befitting his status.
What harm could come from love when it is rooted in faith?
Some fear that increasing love might lead to exaggeration,
that an excess of love could lead to what they term as polytheism.
Yet, this fear was not shared by the Prophet, peace be upon him.
This fear was not his concern.
In Sahih al-Bukhari, the Prophet said: "Polytheism is not what I fear for you,
but I fear the worldly life for you."
"You will compete for it just as the nations before you competed for it, and it will destroy you as it destroyed them."
The Prophet did not fear polytheism for us.
The Prophet did not fear polytheism for us.
Yet some behave as if they love us more than the Prophet himself did, peace and blessings be upon him.
Among us? But Allah—
He loves us more than our fathers, our mothers, and all people.
He loves us more than our fathers, our mothers, and all people.
He was not afraid for us; rather, he warned of discord among us.
And why discord?
Discord arises when you begin to resent your brother simply because he loves the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
And this is exactly what has happened today.
Why do you object to those who frequently mention the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him?
Why do you object to those who frequently mention the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him?
Why should we not praise the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him?
If we do not praise the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, then whom should we praise?
Who is more deserving of praise?
And in praising the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, are we truly praising him, or are we in fact honoring ourselves through his praise?
I called upon my Lord, the Most High, the Almighty,
To guide me upon the path of the rightly guided.
O my Master, send Your blessings and peace, eternally and always, Upon the Prophet and his entire household.
Divert its desires, and beware of letting them lead,
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad, Equal to the extent of Your knowledge,
end blessings upon our Master Muhammad, As vast as Your forbearance,
This is ignorance.
Honoring the Prophet (PBUH) is an expression of honoring Allah, the Blessed and Exalted.
Our concern should only be to avoid attributing divinity to the Prophet (PBUH).
And we do not do so.
Rather, we revere him because Allah Himself has honored him—He who created and elevated him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad and upon the family of our master Muhammad, as You have commanded us to pray upon him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon the family of our master Muhammad, as he deserves.
Love is endless.
This means that love has no limits at all.
Until you reach a point where you dissolve into your beloved.
Love knows no bounds.
Be it love for Allah or love for His Messenger (PBUH).
For the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)
is the one who guided us to Allah.
Thus, the depth of your love for Allah reflects the depth of your love for the one who led you to Him
We seek to define limits when it comes to love for the Prophet (PBUH)!
Yet, we do not demand such limits for the love of our children, spouses, fathers, or mothers.
This is an inconsistency.
It is an unjustified excuse.
An excuse without basis.
Why impose a limit? What standard defines the extent of this love?
When we speak of exaggeration in the love of the Prophet (PBUH),
what is meant is attributing to him what does not belong to him.
This is what it means to exceed the limits.
It occurs when one elevates this servant of Allah—His Messenger, our Master Muhammad (PBUH)—to the status of worship.
To do so is to go beyond rightful bounds—it is exaggeration.
Such excess is extremism.
It leads to polytheism—
giving to the Messenger of Allah what belongs solely to Allah.
For there is none like Allah; nothing can be compared to Him.
The Messenger of Allah is a creation, while Allah is the Creator—there is no confusion.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad in accordance with Your love for him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad in proportion to Your care for him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad, as befits his true worth and noble station.
Some attempt to measure Allah’s love for our beloved Prophet (PBUH)
by citing certain texts as justification, such as His saying:
"Do not extol me as the Christians extolled Jesus, the son of Mary."
When the Prophet (PBUH) said, "Do not extol me," he meant: do not exceed the limits by elevating me to the rank of divinity.
"I am not God."
Thus, the Prophet (PBUH) made a supplication, and his supplication is always answered.
He said: "O Allah, do not make my grave an idol to be worshiped."
That is, do not allow my grave
to become an object of worship—people would be worshiping the grave itself, not Muhammad (PBUH), who rests within it.
For he is the noblest and greatest of all creation,
endowed with sublime and majestic attributes, adorned with the pinnacle of perfection.
Such qualities could tempt some to worship him.
Yet Allah granted him infallibility, ensuring that no one would deify him.
Our Master Muhammad (PBUH)—
so that the Creator is never confused with His creation.
Throughout our lives, we have known him as the Messenger of Allah, His servant and Prophet.
As long as you hold firm to this truth,
you may love him without limit—for the more you love him, the more you elevate yourself.
O Allah, send blessings upon Your chosen Prophet, Your beloved Messenger.
Upon Your chosen one, and the most trusted bearer of Your revelation.
After establishing that the Prophet (PBUH) is the Servant of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted,
and His Messenger, sent by Allah, the Blessed and Exalted,
it is Allah Himself who has elevated his status and taught us to revere him.
Thus, honoring the Prophet (PBUH) is a part of honoring Allah, the Blessed and Exalted.
As for love for him, it knows no bounds—
nor can it be measured, for no matter how deeply one loves him,
it will never surpass the words of the Prophet (PBUH) himself:
"None of you truly believes until I am more beloved to him than his father, his son, all people, and even his own self."
That is, one must love him more than oneself.
No matter how much one strives to express love for him,
it will never fully reach this level. Yet, this degree of devotion itself is a testament to the Prophet’s humility (PBUH).
Even if a person reaches the highest level of love for him,
they will never fully fulfill his due right.
One who claims otherwise lacks true love for the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) in their heart.
Such love must be firmly established within.
Yet some seek excuses,
attempting to dismiss this truth.
Perhaps such doubts exist only in their own minds and imaginations—a self-created illusion with no reality beyond their own thoughts.
Glory be to Allah
O Allah, send blessings upon the victorious and supported one.
O Allah, send blessings upon the chosen and glorified one.
O Allah, send blessings upon our master and protector Muhammad.
There are those whose hearts have become unsettled due to their lack of knowledge about the Prophet (PBUH)
and their neglect in frequently sending prayers upon him.
In later generations, many lost this spiritual connection.
As a result, a distance grew between them and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).
This gap gave rise to various doubts and misconceptions.
Some became troubled by the fear of exceeding proper limits in honoring him,
or the misconception that venerating the Prophet (PBUH) equates to elevating him to divine status.
However, Allah clearly states: "Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah."
Allah did not warn us about falling into polytheism through loving the Prophet (PBUH).
Rather, He affirmed: "Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah."
This is a clear and decisive statement.
It directs people to understand that listening to the words of the Prophet (PBUH)
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad, the best of Your Prophets.
And the most honored of Your chosen ones.
And the leader of Your saints.
And the Seal of Your Prophets.
And the Beloved of the Lord of the Worlds.
And the Martyr of the Messengers.
And the Intercessor for the sinners.
And the Master of the children of our master Adam, all of them.
Whose remembrance is exalted among the closest angels.
The Bringer of glad tidings, the Warner.
The Illuminating Lamp, the Truthful, the Trustworthy.
The Compassionate, the Merciful.
The Guide to the Straight Path.
The one to whom You have given the Seven Oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an.
Those who cite these and similar texts to argue that deep love for our master Muhammad (PBUH) could lead to legal violations
have, in reality, misunderstood the texts.
Such a person has not grasped their true meaning
and is in need of proper knowledge.
Has any scholar ever described the Prophet (PBUH)
in a way that could genuinely be classified as an act of polytheism?
There is no such case—bring forth an example if you can.
Perhaps the misunderstanding lies in your own perception.
Your comprehension may be lacking.
You have yet to truly grasp the essence of this meaning.
Bring me an example, and I will explain what you have understood versus what is truly meant.
The intended meaning is such and such.
When the Arabs sought to describe something,
they would use specific expressions and analogies until they conveyed the precise meaning and intent.
We are a nation that differs greatly and fundamentally from the Israelites
They had a suspicion of attachment to or worship of someone other than Allah, the Exalted.
As for this suspicion, it is rejected for the Muslims.
Because the Prophet (PBUH) said: "I do not fear polytheism for you."
This means that the suspicion of polytheism is rejected for the Muslims.
And he said: "The devil has despaired of being worshiped in this land of yours."
There are specific verses
that were revealed to the Prophet (PBUH)
And they were revealed as a message to the nation of the Prophet (PBUH).
Had these verses been revealed to the Israelites, they might have taken them as proof of Christ’s divinity.
As Allah, the Almighty, says: "Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you are, in fact, pledging allegiance to Allah."
This verse, had it been revealed to them, could have fueled their misinterpretations.
However, it was revealed to the nation of Muhammad (PBUH), where such a misconception is already refuted.
It simply does not exist among us.
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greates).
There is no god but Allah.
The Prophet (PBUH), who does not speak from his own desires,
prayed: "O Allah, do not make my grave an idol to be worshipped."
Thus, our scholars have always affirmed that throughout history,
there has never been anyone who worshipped the Messenger of Allah.
Some may have worshipped Imam Ali,
or other figures, but no one has ever worshipped our Master, the Prophet.
His status remains safeguarded from such deviation.
Why? Because on the Day of Judgment, both the worshipper and the worshipped will stand before Allah, the Exalted.
Allah, the Almighty, addressed Prophet Jesus in the Quran: "Did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah’?"
Thus, Prophet Jesus stood before Allah, the Exalted,
and was questioned, to which he responded in submission and truth.
As for the Prophet Muhammad, to protect him from being placed in such a position,
Allah, the Exalted, ensured that no one would ever worship him, closing the door to any such falsehood.
The fear of polytheism, in reality,
is, in my view, a misconception
that some people still hold onto today.
Had polytheism ever infiltrated this nation, it would have appeared among the early generations who loved the Prophet most.
For the love we express in these later times,
amid trials and tribulations, does not compare to the deep devotion of the first three generations.
Nor does it match that of the tenth century or those after it.
They were the ones who cherished the Prophet most.
They held the deepest love for him.
They had the highest reverence for the Messenger of Allah.
And none of the members of the nation ever went to extremes regarding the Prophet (PBUH). This is prohibited and condemned.
No one claimed that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
was a god alongside Allah, the Glorious, and no one claimed that he was the Son of Allah, nor did anyone ever claim this.
It never happened.
So how can what occurs be considered excess in love?
What did anyone do that would be considered excess in love?
What did anyone from the nation, whether men or women, do
that would be considered excess in the love of the Prophet and his family and companions?
This means that the texts do not indicate that this is from acts of Polytheism
And it means that if someone did this, they would not be punished by Allah, the Exalted.
On the contrary, they would grow closer to Allah because, in reality, this is not Polytheism
It is only a misconception by some people
who, due to their misunderstanding of the texts, think it is polytheism
Because we used to say that if this were not Polytheism
it would be in the category of major sins.
Like usury,
like adultery,
like severing family ties,
like consuming orphans' wealth.
If he was at this level, there would be a definitive text
in the Qur'an saying: " O you who have believed, do not seek intercession through the Prophet, nor call for help from the Messenger."
The Prophet, the repentant, the one speaking the truth.
The one mentioned in the Book.
The Prophet, the servant of Allah, the Prophet, the treasure of Allah,
the Prophet, the proof of Allah, the Prophet, whoever obeys him has obeyed Allah.
And whoever disobeys him has disobeyed Allah.
The fear of these people comes from their ignorance,
first of all, of the linguistic meaning in the text,
then of the intended meaning of the context of the text,
then of the reality, which is the noble history of the nation of our Master Muhammad,
which has only ever worshipped one God.
Then from the revealed texts mentioned by the Prophet (PBUH)
saying: "I do not fear Polytheism for you."
Then from the Prophet's supplication that was answered: "O Allah, do not make my grave an idol to be worshipped."
All of these are misconceptions.
Some of which have been dispelled by the light of the Prophet (PBUH)
when he said: "I do not fear Polytheism for you."
The Prophet (PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah.
I do not know of anyone in the Muhammadan nation
who has fallen into the suspicion of claiming sonship
Who has fallen into the suspicion of claiming sonship.
Or of attributing divinity to the Prophet (PBUH). The nation is protected and infallible from this.
It has not been recorded in the history of the nation
from the time of the Prophet until the Day of Judgment that anyone has equaled the Messenger of Allah in this regard.
It has not been recorded.
Our Master, the Prophet, peace be upon him, is protected from this, and Allah said to him: "And Allah will protect you from the people."
So the protection of the message
remains until the Day of Judgment: "Indeed, we have sent down the reminder, and indeed, we are its guardian."
The nation today is falling short with its Prophet
And you come and say the nation is wrong, we are all falling short with our duties towards the Prophe (PBUH).
We haven't known it yet.
We haven't known it.
If we had known it, we would have loved him, and if we had loved him, we would have followed him.
And look, glory to God, in narrow spaces, investments turn into things with no benefit.
There is no benefit in them.
There is no benefit in them.
"The noblest of prophets in lineage, and the most eloquent in speech and address."
And the best of them in birth, migration, lineage, and companionship.
The noblest of people in their origin, the most honorable in their essence, the best in soul, and the purest in heart.
The most truthful in speech, the most virtuous in actions, the firmest in their foundation, and the most trustworthy in their promises.
And the most capable of achieving glory, the most noble in character, and the best in their deeds.
The most obedient and the most attentive.

And the highest in rank.
We must not heed those who seek to diminish our love for the beloved Prophet (peace be upon him).
For this sincere love is the only path
that truly enables us to follow him and his noble family (peace be upon them) in the best way.
Without love, we cannot faithfully adhere to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
This is what we will explore further in the next episode, by the will of Allah.
We invoked Salawat on the Prophet (peace be upon him) more than 81 times in this episode.
