Indeed, Allah showers His blessings upon the Prophet, and His angels pray for him.
O believers, invoke Allah's blessings upon him, and salute him with worthy greetings of peace.
O Allah, send Your blessings, mercy, and grace upon the Master of the Messengers,
the Leader of the God-conscious and the Seal of the Prophets,
our Master Muhammad, Your servant and Messenger, the Leader of goodness, the Guide to goodness, and the Messenger of mercy.
Our Master Muhammad, the leader of both worlds and all beings.
O Allah, send peace and blessings always and forever
O Allah, send Your blessings upon our Master Muhammad and upon the family of our Master Muhammad.
According to the measure of what You have created, from the day You created the world until the Day of Judgment
Dalil Al-Khayrāt (The Guide to Goodness)
Episode 15
Following thr Prophet’s (PBUH) Path
Knowing our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family,
is essential to open the door for loving him.
And this love results in following him.
Following our beloved Master, Peace be upon him,
It is attributed to his lofty status and immense rank,
that Allah, Glorified and Exalted, has specifically granted him.
There is no Islam, no religion, and no goodness except through him, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
A lofty rank, the rank of the Prophet (peace be upon him), It suffices that
testifying to his Prophethood and Message is the second half of the testimonies of faith.
There is no Islam and no religion except through this testimony:
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
I bear witness that he is His servant and His Messenger.
The requirements of this testimony in a person
are to get to know the one who holds this rank.
I was deeply impressed by Imam Qadi ‘Iyad when he authored his remarkable treatise,
titled: Ash-Shifa bi Ta‘rif Huquq al-Mustafa (The Healing in Introducing the Rights of the Prophet).
There are rights of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, upon his nation.
There are general rights.
These can be categorized into twelve rights.
He outlined the levels of honor that Allah has bestowed upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, as mentioned in the Qur’an.
The author of *Ash-Shifa* sought to organize these levels in a way that embodies the concept of following the Prophet.
We have a framework called knowledge.
Knowledge of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Love for the Prophet (PBUH).
And following the Prophet (PBUh).
The Quran states: "Or is it that they do not recognize their Messenger, so they deny him?" (23:69).
"The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves" (33:6)
And the beloved (peace be upon him) said: “None of you will truly believe until I am more beloved to him than his father, his child, and all of mankind.”
"Say, 'If you love Allah, then follow me, and Allah will love you” (Quran 3:31).
Imam Qadi ‘Iyad considers his book a cornerstone in the concept of following.
O Allah, I ask You for adherence to his Sunnah.
And I seek refuge in You from deviating from what it brought.
O Allah, I ask You for the best of what Your Prophet and Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked You.
And I seek refuge in You from the evil from which Your Prophet and Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought refuge.
The relationship with the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
is a relationship of love,
a relationship of nearness,
a relationship of emulation,
a relationship of guidance,
and a relationship of adherence.
To be close to our Master, the Messenger of Allah,
is to walk the swiftest path to Allah.
Allah says: "Say, 'If you love Allah, then follow me.'"
He did not say, "Follow the Book of Allah," but rather, "Follow me, and Allah will love you."
This verse establishes a condition, a response, and a reward.
The condition**: If you love Allah.
Worship Him, follow Him, and follow me.
He is the path to Allah, the Most Exalted.
He is the guide, and none attains closeness except through his gate.
Nowadays, there are many around us who present themselves as celebrities.
We follow them to learn how to improve our lives.
But we forget that Allah, the Exalted,
has blessed us with the perfect human being, peace and blessings be upon him.
By following him, we become the best of nations.
Through the noblest of creation, we became the noblest of nations.
Why were we the noblest of nations? Because we were connected to our Prophet (peace be upon him).
Even Prophet Musa,
said, "O Allah, make it my nation," referring to this nation when he learned of its virtues.
Allah said, "It is the nation of Ahmad."
He said, "O Allah, make me from the nation of Ahmad."
"Make me one of them, as all these virtues are due to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him."
"Make me one of his nation; I am willing to give up Prophethood and be part of the nation of this man."
Make me a follower.
Our Master Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him.
That is why our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
mentioned this meaning when he saw Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, reading the Torah.
He said, "Are you doubtful about it, O ibn Al-Khattab?"
"By Allah, if Musa, the son of Imran, were alive, he would have no choice but to follow me."
And in another narration, he said:
"You are my share among the nations, and I am your share among the Prophets."
And what a noble share! May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.
He was sent from the most balanced among the Arabs in judgment,
the clearest in speech,
the most eloquent in tongue,
the highest in faith,
the loftiest in rank,
the sweetest in words,
the most faithful in commitments,
and the purest in spirit.
He clarified the path,
advised the mankind,
proclaimed Islam,
broke the idols,
manifested the rulings,
prohibited the forbidden,
and extended blessings to all.
May Allah's blessings be upon him and his family in every gathering and station.
When we trace his biography,
we find that he is unique and unparalleled.
Incomparable.
We find him to be supported by Allah,
a guide and a mentor.
we search for the Prophet, this is him.
If he bows, we bow, if he prostrates, we prostrate, if he remains silent, we remain silent.
If he glorifies Allah, we glorify Him, and if he seeks forgiveness, we seek forgiveness.
Why? Because Allah has made him a perfect example to follow.
Certainly, you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example
for those who hope in Allah and the Last Day and remember Allah often.
No matter your deeds on the Day of Judgment, you will not be able to knock on the gate of Paradise except through the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
That is, if you have deeds to present in the first place.
Imagine spending your entire day in complete obedience—
earning lawfully, acting lawfully, and ensuring every aspect of your life is in accordance with what is lawful.
Even if you were to die while prostrating on your prayer mat,
you would still not enter Paradise except through the intercession of our Prophet.
Therefore, you must follow in the footsteps of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
O Allah, magnify his status and clarify his proof.
And make his argument clear and manifest his virtue.
And accept his intercession for his Ummah, and make us follow his Sunnah.
And take us in death upon his religion.
O Allah, our God, gather us in his group and under his banner.
And count us among his companions and grant us to drink from his fountain
And give us to drink from his cup and benefit us with his love. Ameen.
Following our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, is
the guaranteed path to all goodness in this world and the Hereafter.
This following is connected to the concept of the blessed Sunnah in our lives today.
Undoubtedly, this Ummah has been subjected to a form of ignorance—
a detachment from its heritage, its culture, and its religion.
A detachment so profound
that religious matters have become unfamiliar.
One of the greatest calamities
is the vast extent of this ignorance.
Our relationship with the Prophet (peace be upon him)
is one of deprivation—stripped of its true essence.
As if one has gained nothing from the religion at all.
But what does it mean to follow?
Following means
adhering to the Sunnah.
Linguistically, Sunnah means "the way."
In Islamic law, it refers to what has been reported from the Prophet—his words, actions, descriptions, or approvals.
This is the noble Sunnah.
So, what does Sunnah mean linguistically? It is "the way."
The challenge we face today is our failure to grasp the vastness of the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him).
It extends beyond acts of worship to encompass ethical, educational, social,
cultural, and economic aspects of life.
It is far more profound than mere outward appearances.
The concept of the Sunnah has become of little significance.
The concept of the Sunnah has become of little significance.
In these days,
it has become just an outward appearance without substance.
And without life.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) is not truly woven into our daily lives.
Even in our conversations with our wives and children,
we claim they are contradicting the Prophet’s guidance—yet we raise our voices at them.
The same Prophet whose teachings we invoke,
never once raised his voice in such a manner.
So, who is truly at fault?
We follow his character.
We follow his example in raising our children.
We follow his guidance in our relationships with our wives.
We follow his teachings in our interactions with fellow Muslims and with all people.
Thus, following the Messenger encompasses every aspect of life.
Even in our treatment of animals, we must adhere to his example.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned:
“A woman entered Hell because of a cat. She confined it, neither feeding it nor giving it water, nor allowing it to hunt for food.”
This, too, is part of truly following the Messenger (peace be upon him).
O Allah, we have believed in him, (PBUH), although we have not seen him.
So, Allah, grant us the blessing of seeing him in both worlds.
And strengthen our hearts with love for him.
And make us adhere to his Sunnah.
And cause us to die upon his way.
And gather us in his blessed group, among his successful followers.
Following the Sunnah means following the guidance.
It means following the way of our Messenger.
It means how he lived.
Therefore, in some definitions, they say the Sunnah means the way (At-Tariq).
And if they had remained steadfast upon the straight path, We would have provided them with abundant water.
Thus, the way of Ahl as-Sunnah is a way of life.
It is the prophetic methodology in engaging with the universe—
whether in dealing with inanimate objects, animals, humans, or the unseen, such as angels and jinn—
or any other creation of Allah.
This is the path the Prophet (PBUH) has shown us.
For instance, consider his advice to Sayyiduna Anas.
He affectionately called him, "O my son."
"O my son,"
"If you can begin and end your day without harboring ill feelings towards anyone, then do so."
Then he said, *"O my son, this is from my Sunnah."
"Whoever revives my Sunnah has loved me,"
"and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise."
Observe this noble and profound methodology—
it is embodied in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.
The Prophet left us with a comprehensive approach to moral and spiritual development.
Reflect upon your heart each day—
Do you find envy? Do you sense hatred?
Do arrogance and pride reside within you?
Have you replaced treachery with trustworthiness?
Have you distanced yourself from heedlessness and embraced remembrance?
This is the essence of the Sunnah of our beloved Messenger (peace be upon him).
Glory be to Allah, many people practice what they believe to be a Sunnah, but it is based on a hadith with no connection to the actual Sunnah.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was neither insulting nor cursing.
He was not a liar. He was always smiling (peace be upon him).
He loved the poor and the needy. He would patch his clothes and mend his sandals.
He would deal with his family in the most exemplary way (peace be upon him).
He was the most beautiful person in everything.
How can we reduce the Sunnah to merely outward appearance?
And the essence, glory be to Allah, is the opposite of that.
Does following the Sunnah mean only holding a miswak, this is indeed a blessed Sunnah,
but it is just one of the Sunnahs.
Where are the other Sunnahs
We have individual Sunnahs,
and we have collective Sunnahs.
There are Sunnahs for the home.
What were his Sunnahs (peace be upon him) in the bedroom?
What were his Sunnahs with guests?
There were Sunnahs in economics.
How did the Prophet revive a nation?
He liberated the Muslim people from the oppression of the Jews.
How did the Prophet establish an economic system for the nation?
He laid down ethical principles, introduced a currency system, and ensured the availability of goods.
Just as he nurtured scholars and seekers of knowledge, he also cultivated economists.
Just as he raised scholars and, seekers of knowledge, he also, raised economists.
Imagine heading to the mosque for prayer and inviting someone along the way to join you.
If they respond that they are busy with work, how should you approach them?
Saying, "What if you die at work? Why didn’t you come to pray?"
is not the way the Prophet invited others to Allah.
You may follow an aspect of his guidance, but if your approach lacks wisdom and kindness, it is not in line with his Sunnah.
The Prophet’s guidance was not just an occasional practice but a way of life.
His gentleness in speech and interactions was an essential part of his Sunnah.
Showing mercy, overlooking faults, and excusing people's shortcomings—this is the essence of his character.
Even when someone repeatedly committed a major sin, like the companion who drank alcohol,
and the others scolded him, the Prophet said:n“Do not say that, for he loves Allah and His Messenger.”
This is his Sunnah—compassion, not condemnation.
Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.
Follow the Prophet in what you are able to—
in kindness, in smiling, and in daily interactions.
For those who can, let them emulate his humility.
When we humble ourselves, we do so from our limited status, but the Prophet (PBUH0 humbled himself despite being as near to Allah as two bow lengths.
He was in a position of the highest honor, yet he remained humble.
Let us follow his example in what we can, even in voluntary acts.
O Allah, make me among those who follow the way of Your Prophet, our master Muhammad (PBUH),
honor his legacy,
uphold his teachings,
support his cause,
increase his followers,
and unite us with his blessed company.
Do not let us deviate from his path and Sunnah.
Following the Sunnah in its true and comprehensive sense has a profound impact on those around you.
It connects you to the best of creation,
Thus, everything you do will radiate goodness, benefiting you and those around you.
Therefore, understanding the correct Sunnah and learning it
increases your love for our master Muhammad, pbuh.
And it motivates you to follow him, which is what the world needs today.
He said, "And He found you needy and made you self-sufficient."
And he reversed this later with the Ansar, saying, "Weren't you needy, and Allah made you self-sufficient through me?"
Therefore, even sending blessings upon the Prophet, pbuh, is a form of wealth.
If a poor person recites blessings upon our master the Prophet, Allah will make him self-sufficient.
If someone is in debt and recites blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, even after some time, Allah will settle his debt.
If a person is struggling and without work, and sends blessings upon the Prophet, pbuh,
then, mashallah, opportunities for work will renew for him.
O Allah, send Your blessings, mercy, and barakah upon the master of the messengers,
the leader of the righteous, and the seal of the prophets,
our master Muhammad, Your ’essenger, the imam of goodness, the leader of goodness, and the messenger of mercy.
We cannot truly know our correct religion unless we understand our relationship of love for the Prophet,
peace and blessings be upon him and his family, with following him.
In the next episode, by the will of Allah, we will address a question that preoccupies some minds.
It can be summarized as follows: Which comes first—love or obedience?
We invoked Salawat on the Prophet (peace be upon him) more than 63 times in this episode.
