.
Indeed, Allah showers His blessings upon the Prophet, and His angels pray for him.
Oh believers! Invoke Allah’s blessings upon him,
Invoke Allah’s blessings upon him, and salute him with worthy greetings of peace.
The journey takes us to learn the virtues of invoking Salawat upon our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
Thus, we transition seamlessly across different times and places.
Nevertheless, despite these differences, one point of agreement remains universal:
If invoking Salawat upon the Prophet signifies a connection, then the stronger your bond with the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)
the greater the benefits you will receive.
Oh my beloved Muhammad
Oh my beloved Muhammad
Oh my beloved Muhammad
May Allah’s blessings be upon Muhammad
And upon his family
Invoking Salawat upon the Prophet enriches one’s connection to life.
And to the lovers of the Prophet (PBUH), past and present
إنها تضيف حلاوة إلى الحياة it adds a touch of sweetness to life.
This is because life, with all its struggles, is inherently filled with obstacles and hardships—this is its very nature.
However, sending Salawat upon our Master Muhammad eases all of these burdens and strengthens the heart.
It helps the heart overcome challenges without being overwhelmed by them.
O Allah, send blessings upon the Chosen One
O Allah, send blessings upon the Chosen One
Our beloved Muhammad, peace be upon him
Our beloved Muhammad
Dalil Al-Khayrāt (The Guide to Goodness) Episode 2
Dalil Al-Khayrāt (The Guide to Goodness) The virtue of sending Salawat upon the Prophet (PBUH)
Invoking Salawat upon the Prophet (PBUH), brings blessings (Barakah).
Barakah, in this context,
refers to the manifestation of divine goodness within something.
Whoever frequently invokes Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
receives blessings.
It is enough that Allah sends blessings upon him. Through these blessings, Allah elevates their status and eases their affairs.
I had a practice at Al-Azhar Mosque where I would give a lesson after Friday prayers.
I would send Salawat upon the Prophet 80 times.
That night, I witnessed something astonishing in my dream.
It felt as though I was walking along a path beside a garden, with trees providing shade overhead.
Suddenly, I saw a lion in front of me.
What came to mind was to utter, "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah).
"How could I escape from it?" This was the thought that crossed my mind in that moment.
And by Allah, this was a true dream. I recited, "La ilaha illa Allah," and I saw the lion slow its approach toward me.
Then, I invoked Salawat upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and by Allah, the lion was no longer before me.
I remembered the words of Imam Al-Busiri: "Whoever is supported by the Messenger of Allah, even if they face a lion in its forest, it will yield."
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and upon the family of our Master Muhammad,
whose very being and presence are accompanied by blessings.
The worlds are scented by the sweet fragrance of his remembrance.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad and upon his family.
The Scholars have mentioned that from among the etiquettes of supplication (Du’aa)
—following the Sunnah—is to start with invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
and to conclude with invoking Salawat upon him as well.
This is the first etiquette.
Why did Allah, the Almighty, prescribe this?
It is an act of revering the Prophet (PBHU)
Who did teach us about Allah?
Who did guide us to the path of Allah?
How could we approach the path to Allah, the Almighty, without first passing through the gate of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?
This is not just reverence or etiquette with the Prophet.
If we want to raise our needs to Allah, the Almighty,
Knowing that He is our Lord—the One Who responds and is ever Near,
we must show proper etiquette with the Messenger of Allah.
To this effect, the Scholars used to say:
Invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
is one of the supplications that Allah accepts even if one’s heart is somewhat distracted,
or if one’s attention is not fully present.
Why? Because such prayers are connected to the most exalted Status of the Prophet.
The Prophet is the intercessor, and when his name is mentioned,
that intercession compensates for one’s shortcomings upon invoking Salawat upon the Prophet.
O Allah, accept the great intercession of our Master Muhammad, elevate his high status, and grant him his request in this world and the Hereafter,
just as You granted it to our Master Ibrahim and our Master Musa.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Do not treat me like the provision of a traveler.”
It means when a traveler rides a mount or even a car,
where does they place their essential belongings?
A traveler usually places their belongings in the bag at the back of the car.
The Prophet taught us, when one prays to Allah, they should not mention me only briefly or as an afterthought at the end of the supplication.
Rather, mention me at the beginning, the middle, and the end of your supplication.
For if Allah accepts the Salawat upon His Messenger, He will not reject the supplication that accompanies it.
Supplication is accepted when its conditions are met.
There are numerous conditions for a supplication to be accepted.
However, invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is ever accepted.
If the beginning and the end of the supplication are accepted, Allah will not reject what lies in between.
The only assured means for the acceptance of supplication is sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
This is why invoking Salawat upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a precious treasure that Allah has bestowed upon this nation.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad, the best of creation.
A blessing that pleases You, pleases him, and through which You are pleased with us, O Most Merciful of the Merciful.
Hey, how are you? Here you go. Give me a kiss!
Is this for me?
Yes, take all three. All three? Wow, thank you so much.
Say hello to the camera!
I learned when I was in Morocco, something that really struck me at that time
And has stayed with me up till now
وهو أن أحد الرجال الذين كنت أدرس معهم أوضح أنه بعد الصلاة المفروضة which is a man that were studying with it at that time, he explained that after the obligatory prayer
"من السُنّة أن تقوم بالتسبيح، كما تعرف: "سبحان الله، والحمد لله، والله أكبر it is a 'Sunnah' to do 'Tasbih' you know "Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and Allah is the Greatest."
وقال إنك عندما تقوم بالتسبيح، فإن صلاتك ترفع and he said when you do 'Tasbih' your prayer raises
إلى السماء، لكنها لا تصل إلى الله up to the heavens, but doesn't reach Allah.
It only reaches Allah if after 'Tasbih' you make prayers on the Prophet blessings and peace upon him.
So that stayed with me in every time I pray and I'm in a hurry
لأنني مشغول ولدي أمور أخرى لأفعلها you know cause you got something to do
I remember, no, my prayers are not going to reach if I don't make "Salawat" (Sending blessings upon prophet)
So and a very least I make "Salawat" (blessings), if I don't have the time to do "Tasbih" I make "Salawat".
O my Lord, send blessings and peace, always and forever,
upon Your Beloved, the best of all creation.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad,
and upon our masters, his noble family, and his honorable Companions.
That is why Imam Al-Bakri, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
“You are the gateway to Allah.”
“Anyone who approaches Him without you will not enter.”
You may constantly supplicate to Allah, but your prayers won’t be accepted!
You won’t enter because you didn’t use the key,
or you made your supplication without its proper door.
Enter through the gate of the Messenger of Allah.
As it is stated in the Qur’an: “And if they had, when they wronged themselves, come to you...”
Indeed, one of the most beneficial acts for a servant is invoking Salawat upon the Prophet.
It suffices to know that when we say:
“O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Master Muhammad,” Yes, it fulfills the declaration of the two testimonies.
It serves as a statement of monotheism and a declaration that Allah is my Lord,
and that our Master Muhammad is the Messenger of that Lord whom I follow. By invoking Salawat, it surpasses even the testimony itself.
For this reason, some of the gnostics said:
“If it weren’t for the other forms of remembrance,
like saying ‘La ilaha illa Allah’ and ‘Astaghfirullah,’
I would have limited myself to sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Because within it lies forgiveness, monotheism,
glorification, and exaltation.
And it also includes honoring the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his family.
O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Prophet.
O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Beloved.
O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Prophet.
O Lord, send blessings and peace upon our Beloved.
There is no act of worship in which Allah has promised to send blessings upon you in return.
Not even striving in the path of Allah, building mosques, caring for orphans, or honoring parents.
Not even performing Hajj.
If you perform Hajj, does Allah send ten fold blessings upon you?
That doesn’t happen.
But if you invoke Salawat upon the Prophet, Allah sends ten fold blessings upon you.
One prayer brings happiness in both worlds. So, what about the one who sends one blessing and receives ten in return?
Imagine if the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“O Allah, send blessings upon so-and-so.”
What does the Qur’an say? “And invoke blessings upon them. Indeed, your blessings are a source of comfort for them.”
The moment the Beloved, peace and blessings be upon him, sends blessings upon you,
you are engulfed in tranquility and mercy.
And if the Prophet greets you with peace,
Allah manifests His name “As-Salam” (The Source of Peace) upon you.
No other act of worship holds these unique qualities except invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Everyone should be sending Salawat on the Prophet
Why not?! I heard one Sheikh saying in a talk that when one says
"اللهم صلِّ على سيدنا محمد"، فإن الله يُنزِل علينا عشر صلوات Allahumma Salli ‘Ala Sayyedna Muhammad, Allah send ten Salawat on us.
The reality of that, and what does that mean? Allah says
"اللهم صلي على سيدنا محمد "ويقول الشيخ إن صلاةً واحدةً من الله Peace and blessings be upon you and your family, and he said one Salam from Allah
Is enough to freeze the Hellfire over this one
This is the reality, and imagine this continue grace from Allah.
Imagine if Allah sends just one blessing upon us
Through it, He forgives our sins, improves our condition, elevates our reputation, rectifies our affairs
وتنتفي بينا علة الأعراض والأمراض ويصل لنا بها كل خير removes ailments and diseases, and bestows upon us every blessing.
Imagine if the Merciful Lord looked upon you with the grace of approval.
And if the Merciful Himself sends blessings upon you,
what state would you be in? You send blessings according to your servitude,
while He sends blessings according to His Lordship. You pray out of need,
while He sends blessings out of His abundance and generosity.
You pray by asking, while He sends blessings with His grace, bounty, and kindness.
The one who invokes Salawat upon the Prophet will be under the care of the Prophet's mercy.
And whoever is under the care of the Prophet's mercy is under the care of the Divine mercy.
“Indeed, you are under Our watchful eyes.” All this because you occupied yourself with sending blessings upon the Prophet.
O Allah, send blessings upon the intercessor who will be granted intercession on the Day of Judgment.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one who showed humility before You.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one who possesses the right to intercede.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one who holds the highest rank of intercession (Al-Wasilah).
The word “benefits” drive us to reflect upon the advantages we might gain in this world
However, the true benefit lies in what prayer brings to our relationship with Allah, the Almighty
Invoking Salawat upon our Master, Muhammad (peace be upon him),
improves our connection with Allah and opens the doors of acceptance before us.
Scholars have noted that if a person feels they have squandered part of their life in negligence,
and wishes to make up for what they missed,
they should resort to invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
It transcends distances, elevates ranks, illuminates the heart
and grants great rewards if you seek them.
If you seek blessings, it bestows blessings.
And if you seek to draw closer to Allah, it shortens the distance for you.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The closest of you to me on the Day of Judgment will be those who send the most blessings upon me.”
In another narration: “The closest of you to me on the Day of Judgment will be those with the best moral character.”
It is said that sending blessings upon the Prophet improves one’s character.
The more you send blessings upon him, the closer you get to him through your good character.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet has an impact on our lives.
When you send blessings upon the Beloved, you grow more attached to him, your character improves, and you draw nearer to him.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon our masters, his noble family
وصحبه الكِرَامِ and his honorable companions.
Abandon what the Christians claim about their Prophet,
واحكُم بِمَا شِئتَ مَدحاً فِيهِ وَاحتَكِمِ and praise Muhammad with whatever you wish, for in his honor you will never exaggerate
If you seek knowledge, the blessings upon the Prophet pave the way for you.
If you seek uprightness, well-being, or abundance in all its forms,
And whoever seeks wealth in all its meanings,
Allah manifests Himself to them with His name “Al-Ghani” (The Self-Sufficient)
and His name “Al-Mughni” (The Enricher) in various aspects of their lives.
Just like an electrical signal sent from a computer to a speaker produces sound,
and when sent to a screen produces light or an image,
so too do the qualities of our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, manifest in specific ways.
Through intellect, they produce light and insights; through knowledge,
and through the heart, sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, manifests differently.
Glory be to Allah, it brings about various transformations, including the rectification of the servant.
Knowledge without the light of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, will be in vain!
And if it benefits in this world, it does not benefit in the Hereafter.
It may not benefit the inner self, though it might benefit the outward life.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet strengthens this light.
It strengthens this light by honoring him, peace and blessings be upon him.
It strengthens this light by taking pride in him, peace and blessings be upon him.
And by being attached to him, peace and blessings be upon him.
Some might be surprised and think this is an exaggeration.
“Could simply invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, really change my character?”
The answer is yes, and not just that.
We live in a time where role models have disappeared,
or as the Scholars call them, the “guiding mentors” who teach and nurture you.
For anything you learn in life, you need a teacher.
The same applies to matters of religion and ethics.
When you cannot find such a role model or guiding mentor,
Scholars advise turning to invoking Salawat upon the Messenger, May peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
There is an interesting motivation that says someone who does not have a Shiekh, a spiritual guide
Then, he should recite Salah upon the Prophet in abundant, and the Prophet (Salla Allahu Alaihi waSallam) will be his guide.
The Prophet (Salla Allahu Alaihi waSallam)is our door to Allah Subbhanahu wa Tala
And spiritual prose is a means to connect to Him Subbhanahu wa Tala
And in absence or when someone does not have recourse to authentic spiritual guide
They should build their relationship with the Prophet (Salla Allahu Alaihi waSallam)
It is said that sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, serves as a guide for those who have no guide.
A person must have a mentor.
As Allah, the Most Merciful, says: “So ask about Him from one who is well-informed.”
When you say that in our time we no longer see the guiding mentors we read about in books,
then what should you do? invoke Salawat upon the Prophet—that’s it.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet, wherever you are, is a blessing that nurtures you.
You will be under the watchful care of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
There is no wider, easier, sweeter, or better entrance than the gateway of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
It is the path that leads to Allah. Many of the great Scholars of Syria
attained blessings through sending prayers upon the Prophet.
O Allah send blessings upon our Master Muhammad
Sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is the greatest guide.
If you invoke Salawat upon the Messenger of Allah, Allah, the Almighty,
will guide you to Him through these blessings—truly, Allah will guide you to Him.
Those who have not yet sent blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, have not yet been truly sent.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one whose blessings bring mercy to the old and the young.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one whose blessings bring us joy in this world and the next.
O Allah, send blessings upon the one through whom we attain the mercy of the Almighty, the Forgiving.
My journey with invoking Salawat upon our Master Muhammad began when I was diagnosed with cancer.
This was seven years ago.
I decided not to continue chemotherapy after just one session.
I felt how difficult chemotherapy was on the body from the inside.
This all happened in Palestine.
At that time, I wasn’t reading the Qur’an regularly on a daily basis, nor was I very close [to Allah].
But Allah sent this to bring me closer and pull me back because I was constantly running away.
That’s when my journey began—I had a great desire to learn where do I go?
Because I didn’t have a mentor!
Scholars have noted that one of the signs of the end times
is the scarcity of spiritual guides and mentors, and the world is in chaos.
In the flood of globalization, what should the distracted people do?
What should someone living in the West do?
What about the youth?
The safety rope in the end of times is invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
It serves as a mentor for those who have no guide.
When I migrated to Portugal,
that’s when my journey with our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, in visions began.
That’s when the love started.
There was always a teacher guiding me from within.
No matter how educated I was, whether through university, school, or work,
I still realized my ignorance of the essential knowledge we need.
When the cancer came near my heart, I understood that it strikes the weak points.
It can either strengthen them or we can weaken them further. By Allah’s grace, I was healed.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, becomes a spiritual guide for the nation.
It brings healing, blessings, and mercy.
Today, people live with anxiety, insomnia, sadness, grief, fear, and terror.
Many are in constant conflict, and even their closest loved ones don’t know about it.
Yet, simply by sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, a sense of calm is achieved.
I’ve been reading Dala’il al-Khayrat daily for a year now.
It gives me a sense of elevation and fills me with light.
Flashes of insight come to me.
You begin to understand the value of our Master Muhammad.
Why does Allah honor and elevate this Prophet?
Because everything here exists because of him.
Before sending blessings upon our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him,
I used to see Islam as a struggle, especially with fasting.
I viewed religious obligations with difficulty, and I wasn’t ashamed of that. But now, I am in a different place.
I want to be for Allah, because I seek the Hereafter, not this world.
So, I pause everything just to send blessings upon the Prophet, even for a second, because in it lies connection and deep spiritual taste.
Even if you were in the most beautiful place on Earth, nothing compares.
Invoking Salawat upon the Beloved, peace and blessings be upon him,
is an honor, a divine favor, and a sign of being chosen.
For how many people live in psychological torment,
and how many live with emotional suffering?
Yet, Allah the Almighty has chosen you to live in happiness.
To experience the height of joy and closeness by sending blessings upon the Beloved, peace and blessings be upon him.
O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad,
blessings that save us from all hardships and afflictions,
fulfill all our needs,
purify us from all sins,
elevate us to the highest ranks,
and grant us the utmost goals,
of all goodness in life and after death.
If you ask some people about the greatest calamity,
they say it is being poor, lacking wealth, suffering from illnesses, and facing difficulties.
However, we say the greatest trial is being far from invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. This is the greatest trial.
There is no greater affliction than what Muslims face today.
Let’s increase our gatherings and fill our time with those that honor invoking Salawat upon the Messenger of Allah.
We ask Allah, the Almighty, to remove this hardship and distress from the Muslim's nation.
Whether it’s a collective hardship affecting the entire nation,
or a personal problem that an individual is facing, send blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Use any form, whether from Dala’il al-Khayrat or your own personal wording,
in any number you can manage. Allah knows your capacity.
Then conclude with sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and make your supplication. Allah will answer it.
“And whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect.”
When you are in the presence of your Lord, nothing will harm or frighten you.
This is the secret of sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
It holds all goodness, and the righteous have sworn by its power.
Through it, they achieved their desires and more.
The virtues of invoking Salawat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family,
include protection from the worries of this world and the Hereafter.
This was emphasized by our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family,
in his advice to the noble Companion Ubayy ibn Ka‘b.
This is what we will explain in our next episode.
We will learn how invoking Salawat upon our beloved Master, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, protects us in this world.
We invoked Salawat on the Prophet (peace be upon him) more than 76 times in this episode.
